IN LOVING MEMORY OF FIVE QRENDI YOUTHS

WHO LOST THEIR LIVES IN A TRAGIC TRAFFIC ACCIDENT AT ZEBBUG (MALTA), ON THE 1ST OCTOBER 2005

David Sacco aged 13 years, Fabio Magro aged 16 years, Marco Abdilla aged 17 years, Oswaldo Vella aged 18 years and Christian Camillleri aged 18 years, all from Qrendi, lost their lives in a horrific and tragic traffic accident at Zebbug, Malta in the early morning hours of the 1st October 2005 Two of the five traffic victims, namely Oswaldo Vella, son of the founder and former Qrendi Group Scout Leader Anthony Vella, and Christian Camilleri, son of the Qrendi Scout Council chairman Mario Camilleri, were both former scout members of the Qrendi Scout Group.

Much as all the youths will be greatly missed in the Qrendi community, the Qrendi Scout Group wishes to remember their former scout members, namely Oswaldo and Christian, for the happy times they spent at the Qrendi Scout Group.

Christian Camilleri joined the Qrendi Scouts in May 1994 as a young Cub Scout, progressing to become a scout and later a Venture Scout.

Christian will be best remembered for his participation in the Scout football leagues where he guarded the Qrendi goal, for his presence in the Qrendi Scout Band where he played the Base drum and for his participation at the President’s Award, in which he worked hard to achieve his Bronze Award

Oswaldo Vella joined the Qrendi Scouts in May 1994 as a young Cub Scout, progressing to become a Cub Scout sixer and Senior Sixer of the Qrendi Cub Scouts..

Oswaldo will be best remembered for his participation in the 90th Anniversary Commemorative logo design competition which he won in 1998, as well as his active service in Scouting religious activities.

There are not many words of consolidation that one may offer the parents and relatives of the five victims on their sad loss, except the Qrendi Scout Group’s promise to remember them in our prayers
