The Scout Association of Malta Emblem The Scout Association of Malta emblem is the white arrowhead (often in the form of a fleur de lye), encircled is a cord tied with a reef knot or square knot. This knot reminds all of worldwide unity and brotherhood. All is superimposed on the Maltese eight pointed cross, often referred to as “The Maltese Cross”. The three tips of the scout emblem represents the three main obligations of the Scout Promise (To do ones duty to God and Country, and to help others at all times). The two decorative five pointed stars are understood to symbolise truth and knowledge. The colour of the Scout Association of Malta emblem is white on a royal purple background. In heraldry, white represents purity, and royal purple denotes leadership and helping others. The basic arrowhead design was for centuries used to indicate North on a compass. |
