Texans encouraged by Tytus Howard’s hard-nosed style against Steelers

Tytus Howard reacted fast to the charge of Pittsburgh Steelers outside linebacker T.J. Watt.

The Texans’ second-year right offensive tackle managed to gain leverage quickly and hip-tossed Watt to the ground after stonewalling his pass rushing moves.

Although the Steelers got the victory and Watt had a productive day that included one sack and four quarterback hits, the Texans were encouraged by Howard’s overall performance. That included knocking down the Pro Bowl selection multiple times.

Howard allowed one sack and one hurry, according to Pro Football Focus. For the season, Howard has a 54.8 overall blocking grade, a 51.5

Model Bella Hadid visits N.J. for burgers, ice cream and NJ Transit

If you want to be a supermodel in 2020, you don’t have to go without ice cream. Or hamburgers. Of which New Jersey has plenty.

Model Bella Hadid recently enjoyed both during an outing in the Garden State with her friend, Daniel Chetrit.

“This is Bella & Daniel … and you’re watching Diners drive ins and dives: Best Friend Edition,” Hadid, 23, captioned Instagram photos of her trip to White Manna on River Street in Hackensack and Cranberry Junction Cafe on Temple Avenue.

The Hackensack River was visible in the background as Hadid chowed down on some White Manna sliders on the hood of a car in the dispatch to her 33.8 million followers. She posed in front of the famous White Manna sign wearing a face mask and posted a video of an NJ Transit train going past Cranberry Junction, where she sat on the front steps to enjoy

Saks CEO Talks Fashion, Flagship and the Go-Forward Agenda

For the holiday 2020 season, Saks Fifth Avenue isn’t following the pack.

While many retailers, desperately trying to navigate the health crisis, have already started or will start the push to sell holiday gifts four to six weeks earlier than last year, Saks isn’t rushing into it.

“Our gifting story starts about the same time. It’s mid-November when we start the push. We’re not moving it up,” Marc Metrick, president and chief executive officer of Saks Fifth Avenue, said. “Saks approaches holiday a little bit differently than Lord & Taylor and Macy’s.”

Aside from discussing holiday 2020, Metrick in a wide-ranging Zoom call interview, said online sales are up by double digits; brick-and-mortar is flat, and the Fifth Avenue flagship is having a tough time, though he contended Saks is capturing market and beamed about men’s wear as the best-selling department.

Saks has been mostly mum on its plans for

Former Bermuda batsman David Hemp appointed Pakistan women’s coach

Pakistan have hired former Bermuda batsman David Hemp as the head coach of the national women’s side. He takes over from Iqbal Imam, who was temporarily working in the role. Hemp is the second foreigner roped in by the PCB to take charge of the women’s cricket team after New Zealander Mark Coles, who spent two years in the job before resigning in October last year. Since then, the PCB had been bringing in local coaches to fill the vacancy on a series-by-series basis.

Hemp, 49, is presently based in Australia and has worked with Melbourne Stars and Victoria in the Women’s Big Bash League between 2015 and 2020. As a cricketer, he played 271 first-class matches and scored over 15,000 runs for Glamorgan, Free State and Warwickshire. He represented Bermuda at international level, scoring 641 runs in 22 ODI innings that included a century and four half-centuries.

Style at Home: Let your headboard shine

By Karlyn Kubin, Tribune News Service
Published 5:04 p.m. ET Oct. 1, 2020

Snuggle season is going to be here before we know it. When the cold rain and crisp wind of a fall morning start to join the morning rush, there is nothing more tempting then hitting the snooze button and curling back into your warm bedding cocoon of comfort. While I love looking at beautiful bedding during all times of the year, it is especially rewarding during these upcoming colder months.

Our second floor is such a delight to behold with all the textiles and colors that grace our beds. However, it is more than the duvets that catch my eye. I have also noticed a big trend towards wood bed frames and uniquely upholstered headboards. I have brought in some unique (and dare I say, bold) styles that are sure to steal the show from the pillows,

From Town & Country

The surprise royal weddings continue! After Princess Beatrice tied the knot with Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi earlier this summer in a small, previously unannounced ceremony, Flora Alexandra Ogilvy and her beau Timothy Vesterberg did the same, saying “I do” in a private event at the Chapel Royal, St. James’s Palace.

“Timothy and I were married privately at Chapel Royal, St James’s Palace on Saturday 26th September,” she announced in an Instagram post, sharing a photo from her wedding day. “We are truly overjoyed and look forward to celebrating next year.”

The bride chose a sleek, square-necked dress from Emilia Wickstead—a British brand popular among her fellow royals, including Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle—for her big day. She paired it with drop earrings, an elegant half-up hairstyle, and a simple bouquet of white flowers. For his part, the groom wore a double-breasted navy suit with

Home in Charleston, Judge Richard Fields turns 100, gets surprise party and special gift | News

Usually, he knows when something’s up.

Retired judge Richard E. Fields has accumulated enough accomplishments and gained enough insights during his long life to preempt most surprises.

But Thursday afternoon, on the occasion of Fields’ 100th birthday, family, friends, colleagues, clerks and legislators honored him in front of his West Ashley home with cheers, expressions of gratitude and a special announcement.

David Mack and Wendell Gilliard. She called her mentor “a giant pillar in the community.” Then, addressing him directly, she said, “Many people stand on your shoulders.”

Grooms read the proclamation: The S.C. Department of Transportation has designated Spring Street on

Sam Mewis goal video: US star scores Man City FA Cup semis winner

Manchester City Women’s American duo is starting to make an impact.

Sam Mewis scored what wound up being the game-winner, while Rose Lavelle played her first minutes for the club in a 2-1 triumph over Arsenal in the Women’s FA Cup semifinals on Thursday. Man City will play Everton, a 3-0 semifinal winner over Birmingham City, in the Nov. 1 final at Wembley Stadium. These matches mark the completion of the 2019-20 tournament, which had been suspended as a result of the pandemic. The 2020-2021 competition is currently in the qualifying-round stages.

For Man City to reach the final, Mewis broke a 1-1 deadlock at the 40-minute mark, pouncing on a loose ball in the Arsenal box to complete a sequence that she started.

Mewis’s finish followed a superb goal by Jordan Nobbs, which had brought Arsenal level after Steph Houghton’s opener on an excellent free kick.

Lavelle then entered

Style Conversational Week 1404: The Empress of the Style Invitational on this week’s contest and results

But like just about everything else this year, the pandemic sent the Triple Crown schedule into cuckooland, with the Derby postponed from May to September, the Preakness till October, and the Belmont, usually last and longest, run first, but at a shorter length. What to do with the Invite: I wasn’t sure we’d get any Derby race at all, so back in May I went ahead with Week 1382, presenting a list of 100 previous Derby winners back to 1878 and putting them up for stud. The results were, as always, a delightful deluge of puns and other wordplay, sifted from almost 4,000 entries. And then, as usual, we had the encore “grandfoals” contest in which the inking entries were bred with one another, with similarly clever results.

But sure enough, the Kentucky Derby did go off on Sept. 5, and I couldn’t resist playing the ponies one more time
