When Chrissy Teigen shared on social media Wednesday that she and John Legend suffered a miscarriage, more than 7 million people responded on Instagram. In replies, stars and fans alike shared their condolences and echoed Teigen’s heartbreak, but some also used the comments section of her post to grieve their own losses and share their stories with the woman they feel they’ve come to know and relate to.

“It’s one of the most horrendous experiences a human being can go through… The grieving and the sadness is unmeasurable,” echoes Dr. Janelle Luk, Medical Director of Generation Next Fertility in New York City and a former OBGYN.

“Not many people want to talk about loss. It’s amazing for someone with (Teigen’s) status to talk about, ‘Hey, it happens to me, too.'”

Telfar Clemens Wins National Design Award for Fashion Design From Cooper Hewitt

ON WITH THE SHOW: The Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum planned a virtual gala for Thursday night’s 21st National Design Awards.

Instead of welcoming hundreds to the Upper East Side museum for its annual awards gala, the Cooper Hewitt took a more remote approach for the event, which doubled as a kickoff for National Design Month. To promote an all-are-welcome theme, footage of the gala and ancillary educational programs are available online at no charge for anyone to discover the importance of design.

The Fashion Design award went to Telfar, but the company’s founder Telfar Clemens was not doing any interviews at this time, according to a Cooper Hewitt spokeswoman. An interview request sent to his company was not acknowledged.

In a self-description included in the Cooper Hewitt’s press material, Clemens wrote, “Become a queer, Black 18-year-old, travel back to 2004 and establish a 100 percent nongendered fashion line out

After Jordan Nobbs had canceled out City captain Steph Houghton’s opener from a free kick, Mewis netted the winner in the 41st minute.

Chloe Kelly’s cross from the right found Ellen White, who managed to scramble the ball back for the unmarked Mewis to strike into the net.

Fellow American World Cup winner Rose Lavelle made her City debut as a second-half substitute.

There Was a Secret Royal Wedding Last Weekend

From Harper’s BAZAAR

Last weekend, the granddaughter of Princess Alexandra, Queen Elizabeth II’s first cousin, tied the knot in a private ceremony in London. The bride, Flora Ogilvy, said “I do” to husband Timothy Vesterberg at the Chapel Royal of St. James’s Palace. She wore a classic, simple dress by Emilia Wickstead.

Although the nuptials were hush-hush for a few days, the new Mrs. Vesterberg shared the exciting news in an Instagram post this afternoon with a photo from her wedding day. “Timothy and I were married privately at Chapel Royal, St James’s Palace on Saturday 26th September. We are truly overjoyed and look forward to celebrating next year,” she wrote in the caption.

The news arrives almost three months after fellow royal bride Princess Beatrice quietly exchanged vows with her husband, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, in Windsor. Only about 20 family members were present for the intimate ceremony, including the

Funding Imbalance Persists For Women-Led Fintechs

The fintech industry has long been dominated by male founders. New research released Thursday highlights this ongoing gender disparity.

At the same time, the Deloitte report offers a glimmer of encouragement for women-run fintech start-ups—and suggestions for leveling the playing field.

The analysis shows that women-founded startups and those co-founded with men comprised 12.2% of the 3,017 fintechs in 2019, only slightly higher than the 10.9% (of 411 startups) recorded in 2010.

Why the disparity? “We are operating at the intersection of technology and finance, which are notably two industries woefully under-represented by women,” Alaina Sparks, Deloitte’s US fintech leader, tells Forbes. “The issue can be exacerbated by bias from those who have tremendous influence in providing the necessary capital to be successful—financial, social, and human capital,” she says.

Encouragingly, more dollars are being directed toward women-founded

What Your Enneagram Type Says About Your Texting Style, Because They’re Totally Connected

Not to state the obvious here, but your texting style says a whole lot about your personality — it’s often how you form connections with people you just met or are getting to know, and how you build relationships in between hanging out with the ones you love. With that in mind, the reverse is also true — and you may be surprised at what your Enneagram says about your texting style. Not only can your type offer insight into when, how, and why you text, but even into the subtleties of your messages (like how many emojis you use).

Each Enneagram type has a “default” style of texting, which reflects their core motivations, needs, fears, and desires. And the thing is, there are no “good texters” and “bad texters” within the Enneagram. Every type has their own unique strengths — for example, some are more reliable in terms of

A pandemic-era ode to every tourist’s guilty pleasure: The gift shop

Right now, of course, I can only do one of those things and when it comes to future travels, my outlook is far less sunny than that of Mr. Poe. The evil twins, pandemic and penury, have turned my Bucket List into a Shot Glass List.

When I have a minute to escape this Bosch painting we’re all in, I indulge in my new hobby — coveting. I look at websites of places I long to visit and, of course, the lovely trinkets I would bring back, and I wonder if I’ll ever go anywhere again.

I accept, for example, that I may never get to go to Zagreb, Croatia, to give live appreciation to the conceptual brilliance of the original Museum of Broken Relationships. (There’s also a Los Angeles outpost.) Thanks to its virtual component, though, I can feel the heartbreak and think “Wow, that sucks,” from afar. I
