A 47-year-old Lake Wales woman is facing felony charges of grand theft and dealing in stolen property after she tried to sell a stolen ring back to the jewelry store from which it was taken during a July burglary, according to the Winter Haven Police Department.

Alice Lavern Henry took the ring, which was from the Simon G. collection, to Griner’s Jewelry, located at 195 Ave. A NW in Winter Haven, around 10:30 a.m. on Sept. 28, and asked a clerk if the store would be interested in buying the ring, WHPD spokesperson Jamie Brown said in a news release Monday.

The clerk asked Henry where she had gotten the ring, and Henry replied that she found it while using a metal detector to hunt for treasure on a beach in the Panhandle, Brown said.

However, when the clerk inspected the ring, it showed none

Walmart employee arrested for video voyeurism in North Port

NORTH PORT, Fla. — A Walmart maintenance worker has been arrested and accused of taking photos up unsuspecting women’s clothing at his store in North Port.

The North Port Police Department said 54-year-old Joey Kauffman was arrested this past weekend after a victim came forward and said he’d used a cell phone to take pictures of underneath her dress. According to an arrest report, she made Walmart management aware of what happened, and store leadership confronted Kauffman but did not immediately find any images of that victim on his phone.

Police say they later interviewed Kauffman at his home, where they say he agreed to sign a consent form allowing them to search the device.

“Our digital forensic team was able to extract multiple images involving more than a dozen unsuspecting adult females from Kauffman’s cell phone,” the police department said.

Investigators say they determined the incidents had happened at

Our favorite place to look for style inspiration? Celebrities, of course! It’s not just about what they wear on the red carpet — their off-duty outfits are always equally as interesting (and easier to channel in our everyday lives). There’s nothing we love more than a series of glamorous paparazzi shots!

Katie Holmes, a forever fashion icon, has been a particular flashbulbs fixture as of late, routinely popping up in downtown New York City clad in some seriously chic ensembles. They’re not all high-end designer pieces from Paris, though — her classic Gap sweatshirt instantly caught our eye and led Us down a quest to find similar items with a nostalgic feel. That’s why we rounded up nine vintage-inspired sweatshirts

A brand-new Tesla Model Y’s glass roof flew off on the highway

Panoramic glass roof panels are not supposed to fly off on the highway. You’d think that’d go without saying, but unfortunately, one recent Tesla buyer experienced exactly that almost unbelievable scenario shortly after taking delivery of a brand-new Model Y electric crossover in California. The new owner’s son was present for the inaugural drive and posted the experience to the Reddit Tesla Lounge, calling the automaker’s quality control “embarrassingly bad.” Hard point to argue, especially given Tesla’s history of poor quality.

Just prior to the instant convertible roof deployment, the poster says they “started to hear a ton of wind” while driving and thought perhaps a window had inadvertently opened until about a minute later when the entire glass panel lifted off and flew away. The father and son immediately turned around and returned to the dealership, where they called the local highway patrol to report the incident.

Meet the 16-year-old owner of a Brooklyn beauty supply shop

Some teens get an after-school job. Paris McKenzie got an after-school career.

The precocious 16-year old opened her own store, Paris Beauty Supplyz, on Church Avenue in Flatbush last month. She even has an employee who is six years older than her.

“It’s not as awkward as you might think,” McKenzie told The Post of the managerial relationship. “Giselle is 22 and she is so kind and welcoming. It’s not like, ‘Oh this 16-year-old is bossing me around.’ ”

But McKenzie is very much in charge — and putting on a masterclass in the pandemic hustle. A senior at the High School for Human Services and Health Professions, she grew up working in her mother’s nearby salon, learning the tricks of the cosmetology trade, including hair and nails along with entrepreneurial skills.

When a beauty shop in the neighborhood was shutting down, the store’s previous owner approached McKenzie’s mom because

Holiday shopping is starting earlier than ever, experts say

While Black Friday is typically considered the kick-off for holiday shopping, 2020 will be a little different — experts say retailers are starting their sales early.

How early? For some, October.

“Black Friday was always about being first,” Michael Brown, a partner at consulting firm Kearney, told CNBC. “But Black Friday is not going to be the launch of the holiday season this year. … It will happen softly over the next month or so.”

Earlier this year, Amazon said it would push back its annual Prime Day sales event — typically held in July — in an effort to keep employees safe during the COVID-19 pandemic. Amazon announced last week that Prime Day 2020 is slated for Oct. 13 and 14.

Not long after the news broke, other retailers announced major sales during the same time frame, McClatchy News previously reported.

Target’s Deals Days event will take place on
