Moms make COVID isolation gift bags for quarantined ASU students

“Water, Gatorade, just some fun snack foods… there’s a jump rope, a deck of cards,” said one of the moms.

ARIZONA, USA — A group of ASU moms are coming together this weekend to make 300 COVID isolation gift bags for Sun Devils quarantined on campus.

It’s a collaboration of hundreds of ASU moms in a Facebook group online and others from out of state.

“An army of ASU moms that are preparing care packages for ASU students that have tested positive and are in quarantine,” said Sue Rigler, who knows the struggle they’re going through. Her daughter contracted COVID-19.

“She tested positive quite some time ago,” she said. “She’s very healthy now, but she was in quarantine for 10 days.”

During that time, Sue sent her daughter a care package.

“It didn’t have a smiley emoji stress ball in it, but it had mashed potatoes and bananas,” said Rigler.

Swiatek swells youth in women’s tennis slamming door on the rest

At the end of her speech after a seventh dismantling of seven, Iga Swiatek returned to the mic with one final thought: “Maybe it just had to be like that,” she said, laughing. “Another underdog is gonna win a grand slam. In women’s tennis it’s so open right now that it’s crazy.”

Although it was a shock to see Swiatek forego a more conventional path to a first slam title by winning at 19, conceding an absurd 28 games and clinching her first tour-level title at Roland Garros, in some ways women’s tennis has not been open for the past two years. The youth have arrived and they are consistently slamming the door on the rest.

Seven of the past eight grand slam titles have been won by players under the age of 23: Naomi Osaka, Sofia Kenin, Ashleigh Barty, Bianca Andreescu

Remote Work Is Here To Stay. So Why Not Do It In Style?

By now, many of us have accepted the idea that office life as we know it is never coming back. At least not for the foreseeable future. And even if it does, it may look very different to what we’re used to. Remote working has been our reality for the last six months, and it may well continue to be until a COVID-19 vaccine is developed.

Back when we thought this was only a temporary glitch, many of us made do with what we had. We bought standing desks and back pillows from Amazon and got creative, turning corners of our apartments and homes into makeshift home offices. (Sometimes with amusing results.)

But these setups were only ever meant to be temporary. Faced with a reality that will likely include years of remote work, many people are now seeking long-term solutions. Faced with a sluggish travel market, companies like Airbnb

Tesla Model 3 Price Too High? Dirt-Cheap Used Electric Cars Can Be Good Deals

The used EV has arrived.

It was only nine years ago that the first won’t-break-the-bank electric cars arrived.

Those non-Tesla EVs — like the Nissan Leaf and Chevy Volt — weren’t priced at $80,000 like the Model S and the first- and second- generations of those cars have been hitting the used car market over the last several years.

And with a Long Range 2020 Tesla Model 3 starting at about $47,000, “dirt cheap” for an EV is anything under $20,000.

A couple of the better sites for used EVs are MYEV and CarGurus.

Most of the used EVs cited below are first- and second-generation electrics that were sold roughly between 2011 and 2017.

Note: all prices are based on a used vehicle

Rancho Cordova Disabled Veteran receives much-needed gift

This post was contributed by a community member. The views expressed here are the author’s own.

Sacramento, CA. (Saturday, October 10, 2020) – A Rancho Cordova disabled veteran received a new heating and air conditioning unit from Bonney and Lennox this Saturday during their national “Feel the Love” event.

Bonney began requesting nominations in June from community members to help those facing physical, mental, or social disabilities, financial challenges, or job loss. Military, community service and local hometown heroes were also critical factors for choosing a Feel the Love recipient.

“We received more than 50 nominations from across the greater Sacramento region,” said Oscar Poort, General Manager of HVAC and Electrical for Bonney. “The committee chose Karriem Glaster from Rancho Cordova as we learned he was a disabled veteran that served in the army, he has asthma and just didn’t have the resources to replace a non-working unit since he

“I’m just saving up for the future,” she said.

Winning the first major of her career just might be priceless. A 10-time LPGA Tour winner, the 27-year-old South Korean has the unwanted title of winningest active player without a major championship.

Robbie Fowler to use Roar model for East Bengal

He said he would aim to create a team where all players are treated equally regardless of their stature

East Bengal’s newly appointed coach Robbie Fowler said he would delve into his experience as Australia’s A-League Brisbane Roar manager as he begins work with the Indian Super League (ISL)’s latest entrant.

After taking over in April 2019, the former England and Liverpool striker overhauled the Roar’s squad. Following a slow start, he lifted them to fourth on the ladder before the league’s suspension owing to the pandemic. It was his first assignment as full-time coach. In 2011, he was a player-coach at Thailand’s Muangthong United, helping the club to a third-place finish.

“My coaching philosophy in a team is that we want to be competitive, we want to play the right way and we want to get the right results. East Bengal is going to be a possession-based team. I
