Cross country road trip in honor of dad turned into one last gift from him to daughters | Momaha

I’d expected the trip to be emotional — cathartic, even — but I hadn’t expected it to be fun. We laughed and talked incessantly across five states (more apologies to my teenager), so 20 hours of driving felt like only a few. We stopped at the historical landmarks our dad would have stopped at, and we took him into mountain creek beds, questionable gas stations and a slew of establishments serving the pickle-and-onion-only burgers he adored.

When we realized at the “Welcome to Cheyanne” sign that I’d misrouted us and we shouldn’t have actually been in the state of Wyoming at all, we cackled to the point of tears until we remembered dad had lived in Cheyanne when he was younger. He had always spoke of it as a place he loved. It felt like he had a hand in our detour, so we reveled in his stop off before

Man’s nearly $900,000 lottery ticket was a birthday gift

Oct. 13 (UPI) — An Australian man is hailing his “most rewarding birthday present yet” after winning nearly $900,000 from a lottery ticket given to him by his parents.

The Engadine, New South Wales, man told The Lott officials his ticket for the Oct. 10 Saturday Lotto drawing was a gift for his birthday.

“I received the ticket as part of a gift pack for my birthday from my dad and step-mum,” the man said. “It’s the most rewarding birthday gift I’ve ever received!”

The ticket turned out to be an $859,320 top prize winner.

“I hadn’t checked it yet and didn’t even know there was a winner from Engadine until they called me yesterday and reminded me to check it,” he said. “They were pretty desperate to find out if they bought me the winning ticket!”

Hall of Famer Mike Schmidt remembers Joe Morgan, ‘God’s gift to baseball’

Joe Morgan’s eye-popping Hall of Fame ledger does not include any saves, but he did earn one in his career.

Morgan, who died at 77 on Sunday, spent the 1983 season with the Phillies and helped the club win the National League pennant.

In May of that season, Mike Schmidt was in the throes of a hellacious slump. Schmidt’s struggles reached an agonizing crescendo in a game against Montreal at Veterans Stadium on May 28.

“I struck out four times on 12 pitches,” Schmidt said Monday. “You can look it up.”

We did.

He was right.

In the top of the ninth inning, the game was delayed for 18 minutes by rain. His misery prolonged, Schmidt retreated to the clubhouse. He was beside himself.

“I was actually thinking about retiring, getting in my car in full uniform and driving home,” he said.

Morgan walked over to Schmidt in the clubhouse

Freeman had previously told the tribunal that he was “terrified” of the former British Cycling head coach – and also said in his witness statement that Sutton had wanted him to sign off £6,000 of cosmetic dental treatment while the two men worked together.

However under cross-examination by Simon Jackson QC, counsel for the General Medical Council, Freeman stated that he had “regrettably” accepted a sponsor’s bike from Sutton, believed to be a Pinarello Prince worth several thousands of pounds, which he subsequently gave to his wife.

Gates Foundation Gift to Support Covid-19 Testing at Historically Black Colleges

Several historically Black colleges and universities will share a $15 million dollar donation over the next three years from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to support Covid-19 testing on their campuses, the foundation announced Tuesday. It will be the foundation’s largest donation to historically Black colleges and universities to date.

The donation will supplement the Just Project, an initiative from

Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc.

that has provided instruments, kits and Covid-19 testing infrastructure to seven historically Black colleges and universities across the country so far.

The donation will be divided among Florida A&M University, Hampton University, Howard University, Meharry Medical College, Morehouse School of Medicine and Xavier University of Louisiana, with each school receiving $1.5 million. Up to four more schools will be added to the donation in the coming weeks.

These schools will act as hubs for other historically Black colleges in their regions, and will process Covid-19

There’s one aspect of my boyfriend’s “gift” that I really can’t take.

How to Do It is Slate’s sex advice column. Have a question? Send it to Stoya and Rich here. It’s anonymous!

Dear How to Do It,

I’ve been with my guy for two years. While we have fantastic sex, one thing I love is missing: anal. I’ve enjoyed anal sex in the past and want it with him, but he has an extraordinarily long, fat penis. It’s something to behold. And Tab A just won’t fit into Slot B. To get used to his size, I’ve tried graduated training plugs but the largest is still smaller than his “plug.” It’s worth noting that his length is not preventing penetration—his girth is.

So, I’m literally asking “how to do it,” anally. Thanks for your, um, input.

—Not Just the Tip

Dear Not Just the Tip,

Inflatable butt plugs. I’ve seen them starting

Jimmy Kimmel Surprises Dearborn Woman With Birthday Gift

DEARBORN, MI — Jimmy Kimmel, a host of “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” on ABC, surprised one of his biggest fans with a birthday gift Sunday.

Lillie Washington, a resident at Beaumont Commons, Dearborn, turned 95 years old Sunday and was stunned when she received a signed T-shirt, hat and card as a gift from Kimmel in the mail.

“I watch him every night, religiously,” Washington said in a video of her opening up a letter from Kimmel.

Washington was profiled in the Dearborn Press and Guide, in which she said her favorite TV show is “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” While Kimmel vacationed over the summer, Washington complained that his guest hosts were not as funny.

To everyone’s surprise, Kimmel read the story. Kimmel’s assistant then emailed the senior living community to inquire about the best way to send a package to such an enthusiastic fan.

Donna Brandt, sales manager for Beaumont Commons,
