The maker of Jif peanut butter is offering coupons to customers who threw out their products recalled due to possible Salmonella contamination.

21 News first reported on Saturday that the Food and Drug Administration had issued an advisory against eating, serving, or selling certain Jif peanut butter linked to an outbreak of Salmonella infections in Ohio and 11 other states.

The FDA recommended that anyone who has used the recalled products should wash and sanitize surfaces and utensils that could have touched the peanut butter.

The advisory gave no information about returning the product for a refund from the manufacturer J.M. Smucker.

Now the website www.jif.com has created a link to a page that affected consumers can fill out for a coupon for a replacement product.

Customers will need the UPC Number and Product Code from the container.

The company says it will review the claims and send coupons for a replacement product for any items covered by the recall.

Those with more than one product to claim may complete the form again.
