Couple has socially distanced wedding at nursing home so bride’s 89-year-old grandmother can attend

Steven Shoemaker and Kirsten Haigh tied the knot in the courtyard of a Los Angeles-area nursing home to ensure that Haigh’s 89-year-old grandmother wouldn’t miss it.”I joke, she’s such a fantastic host that it would be just like her to find a way to host our wedding,” Haigh told KABC.The newlyweds live in San Francisco but had always planned to get married in Orange County.”We were planning on having a big wedding in Costa Mesa on Sept. 6. Everybody was invited. Probably at least 100, 150 people,” Shoemaker said. But that all changed with the coronavirus pandemic, and it was back to the drawing board.”We had the epiphany of what really matters here, so we asked the facility if we could get married in the parking lot because her window faces the parking lot and of course, we got so much more,” Haigh said.Park Vista Health Center worked with the family … Read More

Singer recently shared a photo from a vineyard in the Hamptons. Fans wondered why Singer was in New York instead of at Dodd’s Napa wedding. After a slew of questions, Singer finally commented on Instagram.

“Yes, I was invited to [Kelly Dodd’s] wedding,” she shared in the thread. “But not allowed to fly as we are filming season 13.”

Kelly Dodd hoped Ramona Singer would be at her wedding

Unlike many other couples who postponed their nuptials due to the pandemic, Dodd and Leventhal married on their original wedding date. Dodd shared in 2019 that the couple planned to marry on October 10, 2020. She also assumed Singer would be in attendance.

Astronaut Chris Ferguson, who was expected to serve as the commander of Boeing’s first test flight to space next year, announced he’ll be giving up the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity due to “several commitments” he cannot afford to miss.

In a video posted to his Twitter account on Wednesday, Ferguson, 59, revealed the news, calling the decision “difficult and personal,” but reassured his followers that he remains “deeply committed to human spaceflight.”

Though the astronaut remained mostly general in his explanation — only saying that the decision was due to prioritizing his family and important commitments — a spokesperson at Boeing confirms to PEOPLE that one of those commitments included his daughter’s wedding.

“I want to share with you a difficult and personal decision I’ve had to make,” he said in the clip. “I have chosen to step aside as commander of the crewed flight test, scheduled

Boeing astronaut skips space flight to attend daughter’s wedding

He wouldn’t miss this wedding for the world.

The commander of Boeing’s historic first crewed space flight has stepped away from the assignment in order to ensure he’ll be on Earth for his daughter’s wedding next year.

Astronaut Chris Ferguson announced the news on Wednesday, describing it as a “difficult and personal decision” to leave his position with the Boeing Starliner crew and skip the trip to the International Space Station in 2021.

Boeing Starliner commander drops out to attend daughter’s wedding

Astronaut Chris Ferguson was going to command Boeing’s first crewed flight to the International Space Station, but he has bigger priorities.

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla — The commander of Boeing’s first astronaut flight has pulled himself off the crew so he’s on Earth — not at the International Space Station — for his daughter’s wedding next year.

It’s the second crew switch for Boeing’s Starliner capsule, grounded until the end of this year or early next because of software problems encountered during the first test flight last December.

Boeing astronaut Chris Ferguson announced his decision Wednesday. Last year, NASA astronaut Eric Boe stepped aside from the first Starliner crew for medical reasons. Both were replaced by experienced space station astronauts.

In a video posted to his Twitter account, Ferguson said it was a difficult decision, but “next year is very important for my family.” He said he has several commitments

Wedding Etiquette During the Pandemic: To Attend or Not?

Although the Covid-19 coronavirus caused many to postpone their ceremonies earlier in the year, clarity on how the virus spreads and less rigid social distancing mandates are leading to a return of weddings this fall—albeit with mask-wearing and smaller numbers.

That poses previously unimaginable dilemmas for a wedding guest: Will proper cleaning protocols be followed? Will there be close contact among attendees?

The good news is that most nuptials are proceeding with caution. Of those with weddings in 2020, 71% are incorporating health and safety measures into their celebrations, with 63% adjusting seating arrangements for more distance, according to data from wedding website the Knot.

However, a slate of headlines detailing how ceremonies have spread the virus—from a hidden indoor gathering in San Francisco to a super-spreader event in Maine that led to
