With “retirement sale” signs bannering her Old Town Square storefront, Ann Stephens looked up from her work behind the glowing display cases of turquoise bolo ties, silver money clips and shelves of handmade Native American rings, bracelets and necklaces Friday morning.

Dressed in a crisp white blouse and khaki pants, Ann’s simple attire was offset by gleaming pieces from her own jewelry collection — a sparkling silver bracelet, an heirloom silver and turquoise pin, a pair of rings and a silver pendant necklace inlaid with a stack of small, multicolored stones.

I was there to discuss her pending retirement and the forthcoming closure of her store, Meanwhile Back at the Ranch, which has been a must-stop for Native American jewelry, art and artifacts since opening at 3 Old Town Square in 1993.

Ann obliged, dutifully running me through the 27-year history

Could beauty salons close again under new lockdown restrictions?

Could your manicure be off the cards again? (Picture: Getty Images)

Large parts of England are set to face new lockdown restrictions in the coming days as coronavirus cases continue to surge.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson is set to announce a new three-tier lockdown system in Parliament on Monday, with different areas set to adopt different rules based on the case numbers in their area.

It’s thought several towns in the north of England may go straight into the top tier, which could potentially see a ban on households mixing and the closure of some non-essential businesses.

With that in mind, could beauty salons be forced to close their doors once again, just a couple of months after they were allowed to reopen?

Chanel and Louis Vuitton close Paris fashion week in spectacular style

Chanel went back to the timeless glamour of black and white Hollywood movies while Louis Vuitton embraced a gender neutral future on the last day of Paris fashion week Tuesday.

An army of the world’s top supermodels walked under a huge Hollywood-style sign spelling out Chanel’s name in its biggest catwalk spectacle since designer Virginie Viard took over the fabled French house from Karl Lagerfeld after his death last year.

They included the body positive pin-up, Jill Kortleve, the Dutch model who is a voluptuous size 16 (US size 12).

Covid-19 restrictions may have limited the number of fashionistas allowed into the immense Grand Palais in central Paris, but like the decor, Viard wrote her ambitions large.

Her collection was no less than a grand sweep through the long history of the label founded by Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel, with a giant nod to Chanel’s time in Tinseltown in the 1930s

Fashion Retailer H&M With 35 FL Locations To Close 250 Stores

FLORIDA — H&M, a low-cost fashion retailer based in Sweden with a heavy mall presence in Florida, said it plans to close up to 250 stores next year because of decreased foot traffic amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The announcement by parent company H&M Group came in an earnings summary released Thursday.

Many stores that are open still have local restrictions and limited opening hours, officials said. For example, some mall stores in Florida have shorter hours than they did before the pandemic. More customers are shopping online, the report notes.

Even before boutiques and malls were shut down by the coronavirus outbreak, traditional brick-and-mortar establishments were losing revenue and

Doylestown Streets To Close This Weekend For Dining, Shopping

DOYLESTOWN, PA — As part of ongoing efforts to sustain the local economy during the coronavirus pandemic, Doylestown Borough will close several streets Friday and Saturday night for outdoor dining and entertainment.

On Friday and Saturday from 5-11 p.m., East State Street between Pine Street and Main Street will be closed to vehicle traffic and turned into pedestrian zones as restaurants and shops expand to the outdoors.

First announced in June, Operation Doylestown is a collaboration between the borough and the business community to attract residents to the downtown area amid a global pandemic that has put restrictions on indoor dining and shopping.

Various streets will be closed through the fall season to create pedestrian zones that give downtown merchants the chance to open outside, Discover Doylestown President Kris Boger said.

“It’s been a nice way to engage with the businesses on different levels, and to safely welcome folks back,”

Fashion giant H&M said it is closing 250 of its stores globally next year as the Covid-19 pandemic continues to accelerate a major switch to online shopping.

H&M, which is the world’s second biggest clothing retailer, said that around a quarter of its 5,000 stores are able to renegotiate or exit contracts next year, allowing it to shut around five per cent of its shops for good.

The locations of the shop closures, how many jobs will be axed and whether or not any UK stores will be affected, remains unclear.

The update came as the Swedish company said it had seen trading continue to recover in September, but sales remained 5 per cent lower than at the same point a year ago.
