Babos and Mladenovic enjoy sweet revenge after U.S. Open drama

By Julien Pretot

PARIS (Reuters) – Timea Babos and Kristina Mladenovic enjoyed some sweet revenge following their U.S. Open heartbreak as they retained their French Open doubles title to claim their fourth Grand Slam as a pair on Sunday.

Hungary’s Babos and local favourite Kristina Mladenovic, who were withdrawn from the U.S. Open due to COVID-19 protocols, have now won four of the last 11 women’s majors with a 6-4 7-5 victory against Desirae Krawczyk and Alexa Guarachi in the Roland Garros final.

Mladenovic and Babos were withdrawn from the tournament ahead of the second round at Flushing Meadows after the Frenchwoman had to stay in quarantine in her hotel room following a game of cards with Benoit Paire, who tested positive for COVID-19.

“Just a few weeks after being injustly disqualified from the U.S Open, being here with you and with this trophy is something very strong,” Mladenovic told

Bittersweet Gay Immigration Drama Finds Beauty in Real Life

Click here to read the full article.

They say truth is stranger than fiction, but more often than not it’s much sadder too. Where fiction likes to wrap things up in a tidy bow, real life is all about calculated compromise. In the case of Iván Garcia and Gerardo Zabaleta, whose touching love story is dramatized in the timely drama “I Carry You With Me,” the choice between a life together in the U.S. or with family in Mexico has no clear-cut answers. The narrative feature debut of Oscar-nominated documentarian Heidi Ewing (“Jesus Camp”),

“I Carry You With Me” operates on three separate timelines, often jumping between with little rhyme or reason. Ewing intercuts footage of the real Iván, now in early middle age and a successful chef in New York City, alongside the talented actor (Armando Espitia) dramatizing his life as a young man in Puebla, Mexico, with occasional

2020’s Top Jewelry Trends Are All About Drama, So Layer Up

While some look to the runways to see what all the models are wearing on their bodies, I’m more interested in what they’ve got on their ears. And on their fingers, and around their necks—do you see where I’m going with this? Earrings, rings and necklaces are the keys to my heart, and lucky for me, all the 2020 jewelry trends are full-on obsession-worthy.

Designers like Christian Siriano made a case for chunky, punk-inspired chains, while others, like Ulla Johnson and Zimmermann, showed off more playful looks like fun mismatched earrings and charm necklaces, respectively. There’s no shortage of statement jewelry calling my name this season, and I can’t wait to pair all these trends with cozy fall and winter ensembles.

One of the best parts about jewelry is that it has the ability to elevate any outfit. Wearing a white tee and jeans? Add a chunky gold chain necklace

It couldn’t have been comforting for a few civilian women in World War II-era England to learn the spy agency they’d just been recruited to was run by people who were figuring it out as they went. But extraordinary times call for extraordinary people to measure their courage against the scourge of Nazi occupiers in France.

Based on real events and people, “A Call to Spy” is about early female agents in the Special Operations Executive, a hastily organized British spy agency. A key officer operating without a rank, Vera Atkins (Stana Katic), finds two unusual candidates to go undercover in France: Virginia Hall (Sarah Megan Thomas) and Noor Inayat Khan (Radhika Apte). Jim Parsons on reviving dated gay drama

CLOSE

Jim Parsons remembers the moment he knew he was gay.

The “Big Bang Theory” actor was studying theater at the University of Houston, where he was surrounded by loving, open-minded friends and introduced to landmark gay plays “Angels in America” and “Love! Valour! Compassion!”

“The first time I had a crush on a boy in undergrad, I was like, ‘Oh, (shoot), this is seeing the world in color,’ ” Parsons says. “I realized all the crushes I’d had on girls in the past (were) black and white in comparison. And I was like, ‘Well, I can’t go back. I am Dorothy and I walked out of the house into Oz, and I’ve just got to keep going down the brick road.’ ”
