Egypt- Flat6Labs is model of cooperation providing youth employment : Al-Mashat

(MENAFN – Daily News Egypt) Egypt’s Minister of International Cooperation, Rania Al-Mashat, has praised the Flat6Labs accelerator as a successful model for cooperation to foster youth employment in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.

Flat6Labs achieves this mission by offering a wide range of services including mentoring, training, and financing.

Minister Al-Mashat’s remarks came during her Wednesday visit to Flat6Labs. The Egyptian minister was accompanied by John Barsa, USAID Director in Washington, who is visiting Egypt for the first time; Jonathan Cohen, US Ambassador to Egypt; Leslie Reed, Director of USAID office in Egypt; and Maya Morsi, President of the National Council for Women.

Minister Al-Mashat stressed that Flat6Labs has grown to be the leading business accelerator in Egypt, supporting 106 businesses and creating 7,450 jobs, of which 6,293 for women.

She added that Egypt has a vibrant entrepreneurial ecosystem, as the small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) sector

Laura Ashley workers to get Fashion-Enter Ltd employment

Seventy-seven former Laura Ashley workers are to be employed at a new production facility in Powys.

Social enterprise Fashion-Enter Ltd (FEL) will be based at the Royal Welsh Warehouse, known locally as the Pryce Jones Building, in Newtown.

It follows a £300,000 investment from the Welsh Government.

Laura Ashley’s Texplan warehouse and call centre in the town closed after the furniture and fashion chain went into administration in March.

FEL will be producing 10,000 garments a week for online fashion retailer ASOS, increasing to 20,000 a week within a month.

It will also provide personal protective equipment (PPE) for clothing brand Private White VC.

The company said it plans to recruit a further 30 stitchers and establish a textile academy in the town “over the coming months”.
