Walmart’s Black Friday Deals for Days is three sales instead of one

CLOSE

With the holidays a few months away, Walmart unveiled its annual “Top Rated by Kids Toy List.”

USA TODAY

Walmart is revamping its Black Friday sale by offering shoppers three chances to get the “best prices of the season.”

Weeks after “promising an all-new Black Friday experience,” Walmart unveiled Wednesday how it will spread out the savings in November with “Black Friday Deals for Days.” Instead of one sale that has traditionally started on Thanksgiving, there will be three different events online and in stores.

Walmart stores will be closed this Thanksgiving for the first time since the late 1980s and other retailers including Target and Best Buy are following suit amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Shoppers are expected to shop more online this year, and retailers have announced plans for more e-commerce sales to help reduce crowds and spread out demand amid COVID-19.Walmart’s “Big Save” sale that competes

Commodores Women’s Tennis Open 2020 Fall Slate Friday

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Led by a first collegiate victory from Holly Staff, Vanderbilt opened its 2020 fall slate Friday with a round of singles and two rounds of doubles in the Music City Scramble.

“Overall I was really pleased with the way our team competed in both singles and doubles,” said head coach Aleke Tsoubanos. “We have a ways to go but this being our first competition in several months, I’m optimistic about the growth of this team.

“In singles I thought Marcella Cruz played a really clean, disciplined match with Auburn this morning. Holly Staff had a very competitive match with a veteran in Auburn’s Taylor Russo, found herself down 5-2 in the third set and was able to fight back and pull out five straight games for a very impressive win. Emma Kurtz bounced back after a three-set loss and really played some of the best tennis I’ve

Black Friday deals land next week as retailers look to spur early shopping

Halloween is weeks away and summer weather still hangs in the air in Houston, but retailers will blast out a flurry of Black Friday-like deals next week in an effort to capture early holiday shoppers during the pandemic.

Walmart, Amazon, Target and Best Buy are offering major markdowns with multiday sales as retailers aim to encourage early shopping in what will be a strained holiday season, spreading deals out over more time and discouraging large crowds.

“It didn’t make sense for us to be driving large amounts of people to (Sam’s Club) in a single day like we had in the past,” said Tony Rogers, chief member officer at Sam’s Club, which is running early promotions this month rather than one-day events later in the season.

Could the Coronavirus Be the Downfall of In-Store Black Friday?

September 17, 2020 at 5:00 am ET

Our ongoing research on U.S. holiday shoppers reveals that the convergence of trends begun in years past and catalyzed by the coronavirus in 2020 may lead to the demise of Black Friday as we knew it. Brands and retailers relying on this annual shopping holiday – and the foot traffic that has historically accompanied it – now need to plan for increasingly digital and dispersed holiday seasons.

This analysis was authored by Victoria Sakal, Morning Consult’s managing director of Brand Intelligence.

2020 finds 52 percent of Americans planning to sit Black Friday out this year, the once-classic occasion that kicked off the holiday shopping season for U.S. consumers, with only 12 percent expecting to shop in-store. This moment is the culmination of a combination of factors – all trends accelerated by COVID-19: an earlier start to holiday shopping reflecting consumers’ experiences with stockouts
