A new program at Dayton Children’s will integrate behavioral health care into a pediatrician’s well-child visit and could become a national model for preventing mental health crisis. It will be administered at the newly-renamed Connor Child Health Pavilion on the east edge of Dayton Children’s main campus.

The project is made possible through one of the largest gifts in Dayton Children’s history, which is a $5 million, five-year initial investment from The Connor Group Kids & Community Partners, the nonprofit arm of the local real estate investment firm. Dayton Children’s will raise $3 million in matching funds. Connor Group officials, who have

Spotsylvania County kids return to school hybrid model

Spotsylvania County Public Schools kicked off its hybrid model of learning at its buildings.

SPOTSYLVANIA, Va. — Some Virginia students got to return to classes in the school buildings Monday.

Spotsylvania County Public Schools kicked off its hybrid model of learning at its buildings.

The school district said roughly 13,000 students will attend classes in buildings that have been thoroughly cleaned twice a week. Mask usage and social distancing are being enforced among students and staff as well.

Paul Dotto had pushed school leaders to consider opening the SCPS buildings to students during the summer with a Facebook page named “Open Spotsy Schools.”

He said he was happy to see his kids return back to physical classes.

Dotto, who battled COVID-19 in March, said he felt comfortable making the decision to send them after doing some health research on the virus’ impact on children

“There’s something about socialization, especially with

The Best Prime Day Deals on Kids Face Masks & Accessories

Now that face masks have become a part of your child’s everyday life, it’s always smart to have a few extra on hand. Face masks get dirty, they get lost, and they break down. The disposable ones should only really be worn once, and while the cloth ones can last a certain amount of washes, they’re not indestructible. So yes, extras, please!

But here’s the thing: Constantly adding new face masks to your cart adds up, money-wise (not to mention the kids face mask straps and lanyards that you may be adding on!). They’re a new expense that you didn’t even have to think about last year. Ahead of Amazon Prime Day, we found some deals on kids face masks and accessories, like those lanyards, that will help you save a few bucks. And we’re guessing face masks will likely be even more discounted on Amazon Prime Day, which is

The best ways to remove stains from kids’ clothing | 3 On Your Side

PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) — Back to school might look a little different this year. But some things never change, like the  exceptional ability of kids to stain their clothing, whether it’s grass, gum, or more artistic stains like crayon or Play-Doh. The experts at Consumer Reports have some helpful tips on removing stains.

If the stain is still fresh, water alone may actually remove it. But if the stain has set in, a few household items and a good detergent to pretreat it can help.

For crayon—fresh or melted—remove as much as possible. Then work a small amount of dish detergent into the stain. Let it sit for a few minutes, then rub the fabric under warm water. Afterward, wash the clothing in the hottest water temperature allowed for the specific fabric.

Use regular laundry detergent and an oxygenated bleach like OxiClean. Let the clothing air-dry and repeat if the

Be like Mike (Purcell): Colorado kids have a new role model with the Broncos | Paul Klee | Premium

DENVER — For Colorado kids, there’s a new idol in town.

Mike Purcell was cut 10 times, by six NFL teams. He toiled on practice squads in New England, Chicago, San Francisco, Kansas City and North Carolina. He began 2019 in a league that no longer exists — the Alliance of American Football. When the AAF folded into oblivion, Purcell said, he briefly considered “a (real) job.”

“I probably would have (become a firefighter), if this didn’t work out,” Purcell said Tuesday.

It worked out — bigly. Once undrafted, unknown and unwanted, Big Mike signed a three-year extension with the Broncos, his hometown team, worth a reported $14.8 million — $8 million guaranteed. To honor the man, I drove from his old school, Highlands Ranch High, to UCHealth Training Center, where Purcell, a defensive lineman, became Colorado’s newest millionaire. The commute took 13 minutes. His wild journey took a decade

Fashion Nova accused of sexualizing kids with new clothing line: ‘Children should be allowed to be children’

The popular fast-fashion retailer Fashion Nova recently launched a kids clothing line, and some parents are not happy about it.

Nova Kids launched in late September, and the company describes it as “trendy fits for the stylish kid.” But several critics have taken to social media to say the clothing line is inappropriate for children.

“Can we talk about @fashionnova new clothing line for little girls? #saveourchildren,” tweeted Georgia-based U.S. House candidate Angela Stanton-King a day after the line’s launch.

“Children should be allowed to be children & have their innocence protected,” fellow Texas House candidate Jenny Garcia Sharon concurred.

Other Twitter users have hurled strongly worded accusations that the clothing line sexualizes children, particularly young girls, since Fashion Nova has yet to expand into
