Fact-check: Jim Oberweis wrong in portrayal of Lauren Underwood’s answer to ‘rioting and looting’ question

U.S. Rep. Lauren Underwood’s Republican challenger is running an ad that paints the first-term Democratic congresswoman as a supporter of acts of violence and property destruction.

State Sen. Jim Oberweis’ ad includes footage of Underwood responding to a question during an endorsement session with the Chicago Sun-Times Editorial Board about whether she condemns “rioting and looting.”

“With respect to rioting and looting, I think that we have seen many instances of beautiful protests,” Underwood says in a video clip featured in the ad, which abruptly cuts into a digitally-altered echo of her saying those last two words over footage of burning cars and ransacked buildings in Kenosha, Wis., Chicago and suburban Aurora.

“Riots are not beautiful, they’re ugly,” the ad’s narrator says. “Vote against rioters, and anyone who enables them. Vote against Lauren Underwood.”

We tried Lauren Conrad Beauty, and here’s our honest review

From “Laguna Beach” to beauty mogul.

In August, Lauren Conrad surprised her fans by launching her clean, eco-friendly, vegan and cruelty-free makeup line with five core products, all priced under $30: a lipstick in four shades, a black liquid eyeliner, three shades of lip gloss, a lip and cheek tint and a liquid highlighter.

Since then, she’s expanded her cosmetics brand to include two eyeshadow palettes, powder blushes, eyeliner and eyebrow pencils, mascara and even skincare.

Available in store and online at Kohls and LaurenConradBeauty.com, the products were “years in the making,” as the 34-year-old star of “The Hills” shared on Instagram. And with their minimalist pale pink packaging, all of which is recyclable, they certainly reflect Conrad’s famously feminine and classic aesthetic.

But do they truly deliver that gorgeous “California girl” glow? In our latest episode of “Style Trial,” two Page Six editors put the MTV darling-turned-designer’s makeup to

Women’s Super League: West Ham United 0-1 Reading: Lauren Bruton scores winner for visitors

Reading registered their second Women’s Super League win of the season as a goal by Lauren Bruton proved enough to beat West Ham at Dagenham.

Burton forced the ball home from Natasha Harding’s cross after Reading had lost Fara Williams to injury.

West Ham went close to an equaliser after the break when Adriana Leon’s effort was tipped onto the post.

Keeper Grace Moloney excelled again by saving Kenza Dali’s penalty after she was adjudged to have fouled Leon.

The home side brought in Kate Longhurst and Emily van Egmond after a 9-1 home defeat by Arsenal in their most recent game on 12 September.

And they made a bright start with Maz Pacheco, Leon and Longhurst all trying their luck in the early exchanges.

But Danielle Carter went close in reply and, after Williams went off to be replaced by Brooke Chaplen, they took the lead when Bruton scored

Fashion Designer Lauren Manoogian’s Ceramic Collection Reflects her Textural Apparel

Earthy, textural apparel is Brooklyn fashion designer Lauren Manoogian’s stock in trade: natural fibers, nubby knitwear, tonal nudes, easy drapes. That aesthetic echoes in her series of wood-fired clay housewares, made in a northern Peruvian community where ceramics are traditionally and exclusively made
by women. The 12 one-off forms—hand-built bowls, cups, and pots—have been collected
by Manoogian over the years and are now released as an edit under the moniker Object. On some, a dry white surface resembling flour-dusted sourdough is achieved through the application of green banana pulp and copal resin, a sealant sometimes ceremonially burned as incense. The smoother pieces, meanwhile,
are finished with a clay slurry and then hand-burnished. In light of COVID-19, 20 percent of the proceeds will be donated to Juguete Pendiente, a Lima-based NGO.

Lauren Conrad Expands Makeup Line to Include Skin Care | Interview

You’d be forgiven if you think of Lauren Conrad, the businesswoman, mother, and former reality star, as a Fashion Person. She runs a clothing line, a shoe line, and a kids’ line, to name a few, and longtime fans may remember her televised internship in the Teen Vogue fashion closet. But along the way, Conrad has cultivated her own signature beauty look, which consists of easy breezy makeup and a consistent cat-eye. This summer, she surprised us by channeling that energy into the launch of Lauren Conrad Beauty. She began with five products, released direct-to-consumer from her own website — including a lip gloss formula that’s already won over Allure editors. As of October 9, she’ll expand into Kohl’s with a much longer list of products, including skin care, body care, and color cosmetics.

Conrad has wanted to start her own beauty line for some time, encountering plenty of
