A new program at Dayton Children’s will integrate behavioral health care into a pediatrician’s well-child visit and could become a national model for preventing mental health crisis. It will be administered at the newly-renamed Connor Child Health Pavilion on the east edge of Dayton Children’s main campus.

The project is made possible through one of the largest gifts in Dayton Children’s history, which is a $5 million, five-year initial investment from The Connor Group Kids & Community Partners, the nonprofit arm of the local real estate investment firm. Grand Canyon University Scholarship Program Receives Substantial Gift From The Bob & Renee Parsons Foundation

PHOENIX, Oct. 7, 2020 /PRNewswire/ — Grand Canyon University’s Student Inspiring Students (SIS) Scholarship Program has received a $500,000, five-year grant from The Bob & Renee Parsons Foundation. The grant will fund full-tuition scholarships for “Parsons Scholars” – high school seniors who are the most academically qualified among SIS recipients. The largest single gift in the program’s history, the multi-year grant will provide life-changing opportunities for high-achieving youth who otherwise may not be able to afford a college education.

“Supporting higher education, and organizations like Grand Canyon University, is about more than funding a scholarship, it’s about investing in a person’s future,” said Founder & CEO of PXG Bob Parsons. “Today’s students are tomorrow’s leaders, and I’m proud to support those who are willing to put in the hard work and earn a college degree.”

The SIS Scholarship Program is a public-private partnership in which a community-minded

Jill Ellis and U.S. Soccer Announce Coaching Mentorship Program

She described FIFA’s program and U.S. Soccer’s new one as important ways for women, especially coaches at the top of the game, like her, to walk the walk of supporting a new generation. “We sit on top,” she said, “and we have a responsibility here.”

Ellis knows the hurdles female coaches face: the ballooning costs of a coaching education, for one — the courses to obtain a pro license, the top level in the United States, now cost about $10,000, and the next step down is about half that — but there are also child care and family responsibilities, which regularly fall harder on women. For those reasons, many women say, their progress as coaches has lagged behind the waves of growth and investment in the women’s game over all.

The daughter of a soccer coach and the sister of another, Ellis, 54, has dedicated her professional life to teaching

U.S. Soccer, Jill Ellis announce mentorship program for more women coaches

Jill Ellis never left soccer, she just shifted focus.

The two-time World Cup-winning coach with the U.S. national team has turned her attention to making sure other women can pursue coaching careers in a sport where female coaches are rare.

After Ellis stepped down as coach of the national team last year, U.S. soccer announced it would endow an annual scholarship in her name to support female candidates pursuing elite coaching licenses.

On Tuesday, U.S. Soccer also announced the SheChampions Mentorship Program, designed to support women in the two top licensing courses.

Ellis said the idea is to create a community.

“As I look back on my journey, every female coach has gone it alone, so to speak. There’s been very few opportunities to be in a room, or be on a coaching license course, with other women,” Ellis said. “So I think that the idea of this

Lubrizol Accelerator Program a thing of beauty to some brands as it helps companies develop new products

When Curan Mehra wanted to develop a concentrated hand soap pod that would dissolve in water and dispense as a foam, he contacted the Lubrizol Corp., best known for creating specialty chemicals for transportation and industry.

He and his father, Sanjiv, the CEO of EOS Products, a multinational skin care company, wanted to work with the 92-year-old, Wickliffe-based company’s new accelerator program, which helps startup beauty brands develop and manufacture new products.

While the Mehras had access to their own chemists and had never worked with Lubrizol, they felt the accelerator provided an advantage. Not only could Lubrizol’s chemists help create a formulation for the pod, but the company also provided testing and other resources to help bring a sustainable, new product to market.

“The team was very enthusiastic about the product,” Sanjiv Mehra said.

Brandon Ford, chief accelerator officer for Lubrizol Life Science, said he and his team, based

Nordstrom Launches In-Store Beauty Packaging Recycling Program

(Credit: Pixabay)

Nordstrom customers can now recycle all brands of beauty packaging in-store.

For this initiative, the retailer partnered with TerraCycle and Beautycycle, the first beauty take-back and recycling program accepting all brands of beauty packaging at a major retailer. Customers can now bring in their empty beauty product packaging to be recycled at any of Nordstrom’s full-line stores or Nordstrom Local service hubs in the continental United States. Through this program, Nordstrom aims to take back 100 tons of hard-to-recycle beauty packaging by 2025 to ensure it’s recycled. According to Nordstrom, many municipal recycling centers do not accept beauty materials and packaging, as they often contain a mix of materials that are not locally recyclable.

How it works

  • Customers can bring their empty beauty products to any Nordstrom or Nordstrom Local to be recycled. Beautycycle boxes will be available in the beauty department.
  • Nordstrom will send the content of
