With practice set to start for U women, Whalen is ‘energized’

There is so much coach Lindsay Whalen doesn’t know yet.

Not long ago the coronavirus threatened to stop the 2020-21 Gophers women’s basketball season before it started. Even now, with official practices set to start Wednesday, Whalen doesn’t know yet what the shortened, probably five-game preseason will look like. Or when, precisely, the official Big Ten Conference season will begin.

And yet, her overriding emotion as official practices commence?

“I would say energized,” Whalen said.

Whalen is about to enter her third season. Last year a promising start was waylaid by some internal strife — manifesting in the suspension and, ultimately, the transfer of leading scorer Destiny Pitts — leading to a 16-15 record.

But this team feels different.

Whalen and her staff have put an added emphasis on culture. For a team with three starters returning, this season’s Gophers will look far different.

Swiatek also was paying attention, of course, when Bianca Andreescu won her first major at 19. And when Sofia Kenin added her name to the list of Slam champions at 21.

“For sure, it’s, like, inspiring. I know that there are no limits,” Swiatek, still just 19 herself, said Saturday after winning the French Open for the first tour-level title of her nascent career. “Even though you’re really

New Lord Of The Rings And The Hobbit 4K Gift Set Contains Extended And Theatrical Trilogy

October is barely underway, but the holiday season is well within view: Amazon has nonchalantly posted–and later removed–a new listing for a Lord of the Rings gift set of the full Peter Jackson trilogy in 4K UHD and digital available for $140. The set is currently up for pre-order but does not yet have a release date. There was also a standard 4K set available for $90. Both sets contain both the extended and theatrical cuts of The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers, and The Return of the King.

The links are gone now, but they may reappear on Amazon Prime Day, which takes place on October 13. Sean Astin, who played Samwise Gamgee in LOTR announced the release of the three films along with all The Hobbit movies in a recent video.

As is usually the case with Amazon pre-orders, if you’re at all interested it would

Bugatti could set revenue record in 2020, but will delay second model, company president says

Bugatti is still making bank.

The VW Group-owned hypercar maker could set a record year for revenue in 2020 despite the global economic slowdown caused by the coronavirus pandemic, but is still feeling its effects.

Bugatti president Stephan Winkelmann told Bloomberg that plans for a second model that would slot in below its $3 million Chiron hypercar have been put on hold.

“We had talks about a second-model lineup,” Winkelmann told the outlet. “This was now blocked due to the coronavirus crisis; we’re not talking about what’s coming next.”

This is the second time this year the VW Group-owned automaker has announced a development delay for the new vehicle, which a company source told Automotive News would be neither a sedan or SUV.

“We want to do something
