Sheriff’s office searches for owners of possibly stolen jewelry from decade ago

EL RENO, Okla. (KFOR) – A mystery in Canadian County. 

“After a period of time, we’ve got to do something with it and that time is now,” said Lt. Jerry Hendrick with the Canadian County Sheriff’s Office. 

Two years ago, Lt. Hendrick took over the evidence and property division for the county. 

One of his tasks is organizing the property room and working to return items that were stolen or lost. 

“We just find more and more stuff!” he said. 

It’s not an easy job, some of it has been around since the 70s. 

His most recent venture, finding the owners of 180 pieces of jewelry. 

The stash is worth about $4,000. 

“This over here it looks like it’s all costume, some gold chains, or gold colored chains along with some pearls and things of that nature,” said Lt. Hendrick.

NYC sheriffs busts wedding with nearly 300 guests

New York City sheriffs broke up an indoor wedding reception with nearly 300 people in Queens late Friday evening, officials said.

Just before midnight, deputies were tipped off by an anonymous complaint about social distancing violations at catering hall Royal Elite Palace, where authorities found “large groups of people entering the location,” officials told NBC New York.

Upon arrival, deputies found 284 guests inside the venue violating state and city coronavirus restrictions, the NYC sheriff’s office said in a tweet.

The wedding had live music and served food and alcohol without following social distancing guidelines, according to NBC New York.
