Passage Bio’s PBGM01 shows encouraging pre-clinical benefits in murine model of GM1 gangliosidosis (NASDAQ:PASG)

Passage Bio (NASDAQ:PASG) announces publication of data in a murine model of GM1 gangliosidosis (GM1) demonstrating that a single intracerebroventricular injection of an optimized adeno-associated virus (PBGM01) into the cerebral spinal fluid (CSF) resulted in significant expression of Beta-galactosidase (β-gal) in the brain and peripheral tissues, and demonstrated dose-related reductions in neuronal lysosomal storage lesions, neurological impairment and improvement in survival.

GM1 is a rare and often life-threatening lysosomal storage disease caused by mutations in the GLB1 gene, which encodes lysosomal acid β-gal.

The mice received the single administration at age one month and were evaluated over 300 days. β-gal activity was increased significantly in the CSF and serum of the vector-treated mice compared to vehicle control-treated mice.

Considerable improvements in gait assessments and preservation of neurological function were observed throughout the study period.

There were significant decreases in lysosomal storage lesions of vector-treated animals, and by day 300, all

Lourdes Leon Shows the Right Way to Style a Statement Skirt

An outlandish statement piece can be a styling challenge. The wrong complementary pieces can take something from attention-grabbing and tastefully wackadoodle to just plain weird. But model and all-around fashion plate Lourdes Leon has figured out how to balance out a psychedelic piece. Leon stepped out in SoHo, New York to do a bit of shopping this weekend, and put on her best statement skirt for the occasion, choosing a below-the-knee style in a colorful, psychedelic print. The pink, blue, green, and orange skirt itself was loud, Leon’s outfit as a whole wasn’t. Let us explore this mini masterclass, shall we?

Leon, who is Madonna’s daughter, styled it with sporty pieces, such as a classic black hoodie and a pair of bright blue Nike sneakers, which coordinated smartly with the skirt’s color scheme. The hoodie, in particular, made the whole look seem chill and laissez-faire—as though she just rolled out

Cornyn-Hegar debate shows two ways to woo suburban women

WASHINGTON – Suburban women, soccer moms – whatever you call them – Friday night’s Senate debate suggested they’re the key to Texas elections, and can’t be pigeonholed.

Three-term GOP incumbent John Cornyn and Democrat MJ Hegar each made a pretty compelling case to this bloc. He projected reasonable and conservative. She projected tough but caring and as a bonus, relatable – “I’m doing virtual kindergarten right now with my six-year-old!”

They’re both quite good at avoiding knee-jerk ideological answers, as on the question of whether they’d support a national mask mandate during the pandemic.

“Texas is a big diverse place. Obviously out in West Texas people know how to socially distance. They do it every day because of the lack of population density. … We don’t need the government to fill the void that we should fill ourselves by acting responsibly at the local level,” Cornyn said.

Opinion | France’s dress code debate shows how its society still policies women

The Sept. 14 movement, which was meant to confront these views, invited students in middle and high schools to attend classes on that day in “skirts, necklines and crop tops,” or in any outfit that would be labeled “provocative” or “obscene” according to schools’ internal regulations.

In response, French Minister of Education Jean-Michel Blanquer announced a peculiar clothing standard for female high school students, calling on them to dress “in a republican style.” He said that everything should “be all right” for girls as long as they “dress normally” — whatever that means. He later made his thoughts more explicit: “You don’t go to school as you would to the beach or a nightclub.”

Blanquer was mocked and criticized for his comments. People reminded him that Marianne, the fictitious woman who symbolizes the French Republic, is often represented with a bare breast. And Marlène Schiappa and Elisabeth Moreno, two female

How Virtual Fashion Shows Are Changing the Fashion Indudstry

Before becoming a journalist, I was on the other side of the press, working at a luxury fashion house in their public relations department. Working for a global brand was amazing and very educational. I was tasked with helping the director dress our celebrity clientele for red carpet events. I got to plan and attend extravagant events for what seemed like the most important people in the world. It was great, but the one thing I hated every year was managing the seating arrangements for fashion shows.

Every spring and winter, our team would hand select the attendees, dole out invites, and assign seating to the coveted show. The process was lengthy: divide 50-75 front row seats among top fashion editors, buyers, celebrities, athletes, models, friends and family, and influencers. We carefully made sure rival publishers weren’t sitting next to each other, or that a known scandal wasn’t visually displayed

Women with darker skin are more than twice as likely to be told their photos fail UK passport rules when they submit them online than lighter-skinned men, according to a BBC investigation.

One black student said she was wrongly told her mouth looked open each time she uploaded five different photos to the government website.

This shows how “systemic racism” can spread, Elaine Owusu said.

The Home Office said the tool helped users get their passports more quickly.

“The indicative check [helps] our customers to submit a photo that is right the first time,” said a spokeswoman.

“Over nine million people have used this service and our systems are improving.
