Zendaya scoops Visionary Award at virtual Green Carpet Fashion Awards

Zendaya was recognized with the Visionary Award at Saturday’s (October 10, 2020) Green Carpet Fashion Awards – which were held virtually for the first time amid the pandemic.

The event, which celebrates inclusive, ethical, and sustainable approaches in the fashion industry, was broadcast on YouTube and held in conjunction with Shanghai Fashion Week.

In a statement, Green Carpet co-founder and Italian filmmaker Livia Firth said of Zendaya’s prize: “By working with and championing trailblazing within the Black community, she is a leading example for younger generations and beyond, and this is why we are honoring Zendaya with The GCFA Visionary Award.”

“It’s an incredible honor and means the world to me,” added the Spider-Man: Far From Home actress.

Zendaya was announced as the recipient of the 2020 Visionary Award at the Green Carpet Fashion Awards, celebrating equality, inclusivity and sustainability in fashion.

Speaking about the award, the Emmy Award-winning actress said: “It’s an incredible honour and means the world to me…Throughout my career I have had the privilege of being able to showcase other different types of beauties.

Gift establishes the Arthur Satz Department of Music and will fund a minimum of five professorships in the humanities within the School of Arts & Sciences

Arthur Satz ’51—a music major and the late president emeritus at the New York School of Interior Design (NYSID)—has bequeathed the largest endowed gift ever in support of the humanities at the University of Rochester’s School of Arts & Sciences. Satz’s visionary generosity will establish the school’s first named department—the Arthur Satz Department of Music—and a minimum of five professorships in humanities-related fields.
