An Ohio-based model and young mom who was set to travel to London for her next modeling job was shot and killed last week when she was allegedly held up at gunpoint in her car, say police.

On the night of Oct. 1, Shalaymiah Moore, 34, of East Cleveland, had gone out to dinner with a friend, her parents told local station 19 NEWS.

In the early hours of Friday morning, Moore was dropping her friend off at Lake Shore Blvd. in Euclid, when two men came up to her car window and pulled out a gun, her parents said.

Instinctively, “She turned and they shot her in the back and it went through her heart,” her mother, Rochelle Moore, told 19 NEWS.

The designer reveals how he dialed in his well-honed aesthetic.

“You will encounter moments and times that will put dirt or even damage to your clothes. Let it happen. Make it happen,” reads Jakob Hetzer’s “Info” page on his website. This should give you a bit of insight into the kind of designer, and person, Hetzer is. A comb through his Instagram or blog should also suffice. As a society, we’ve come to overuse the word aesthetic, but Hetzer’s got a vise on his, and he has for a long time now. Moving around the world might do that to you.

Hetzer was born in Detroit, but grew up in Germany, and now resides in L.A. There’s a level of grit that comes with his style. Clothes are meant to be worn, and they’re meant to have utility. Hetzer has had his shoulder to this wheel

Tarek El Moussa and Heather Rae Young say exes aren’t invited to their wedding

Tarek El Moussa and Heather Rae Young are keeping their wedding guest list small, and that means there’s no room for their exes.

El Moussa and his ex-wife, Christina Anstead, rose to fame as the hosts of HGTV’s “Flip or Flop.” The former couple share daughter Taylor, 10, and son Brayden, 5. Despite their amicable relationship, Anstead won’t be getting an invitation to El Moussa’s nuptials.

“No, no exes at the wedding,” El Moussa, 39, told “Entertainment Tonight.” “Small, less distractions, more intimate, better conversations with the people around us. You know, we just think smaller is better.” While he and Young both star in TV series, El Moussa told the outlet there won’t be cameras on hand for the big day.

“Just intimate, with our best friends and family,” Young, 33, added. “We’re gonna have to be strict with our list.”

Amy Coney Barrett: A Role Model for Mothers and Young Women

Judge Amy Coney Barrett meets with Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R., W. Va.) on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., September 30, 2020. (Sarah Silbiger/Reuters)

As some of us have already noted elsewhere on NRO, if confirmed, Judge Amy Coney Barrett would be the only mother sitting on the Supreme Court, and she’d be the first mother of school-aged children ever to do so. To most people inclined to view her nomination without the cynicism induced by despising either Trump or constitutional originalism (or both), that’s a pretty remarkable fact.

For American mothers, as well as for young women, Barrett is the sort of role model one doesn’t often come across in politics. As I pointed out in a piece here at NRO last week, her life and her success puts the lie to modern feminism’s false, harmful notion of freedom. And in my latest piece over at the Catholic Herald

More Than Half Of Young Women Have Been Abused Online, Study Says

A study released this week found that nearly 60% of young women ages 15 to 25 have been the victim of online harassment and abuse, with a staggering 39% of those saying they’ve been threatened with sexual violence while online.

Key Facts

Plan International, an advocacy group for children’s rights and gender equality, this week released the findings of a study into online harassment that it says is the largest to have been done.

Of the respondents who have been abused online, nearly 60% said they’ve experienced insulting language, followed by targeted humiliation (41%) body shaming (39%) and threats of sexual violence (39%).

More than half of respondents from the LGBTQ+ community said they’d been harassed for their sexual orientation or gender identity, and nearly 40% who are part of

Most girls and young women have experienced abuse online, report finds

Most girls and young women using social media have experienced abuse that has driven them offline and left them traumatised, according to a new global survey.

More than half of the 14,000 15- to 25-year-olds interviewed by Plan International said they had been cyberstalked, sent explicit messages and images, or abused online.

Plan said it is a global problem and that social media companies had left girls to deal with online violence on their own.

The interviewees, from 22 countries, said no action was taken when they reported abuse.

“These attacks may not be physical, but they are often threatening, relentless and limit girls’ freedom of expression,” said Plan’s CEO Anne-Birgitte Albrectsen. “Driving girls out of online spaces is hugely disempowering in an increasingly digital world, and damages their ability to be seen, heard and become leaders.”

ELLE Beauty Director, Katy Young, On The Eye Creams That Actually Work

When you get paid to test beauty products for a living, what do you actually pay to use? ELLE’s Beauty Director Katy Young comes clean.

elle beauty month boots

Forgive me, reader, for I have sinned. It’s been four weeks since my last confession, but it’s been going on a lot longer than that. The truth is, I’ve never seen the point in eye creams. I’ve always just taken whatever cream I have been using right up to my lash line, assuming that what was good for the rest of my face would work fine around my eyes. Skin is skin, right?

Well, yes. But also no. It’s skin that is 10 times thinner, more sensitive to UV rays, drier, prone to eczema, psoriasis and allergies, and subject to almost-constant micro-movements, blinking 4.2 million times a year. Not to mention the fact that a surprising amount of products have the instruction ‘Avoid eye

Young model gears up to bike 300+ miles to bring awareness to mental health

NEW YORK CITY (WABC) — A young man is biking hundreds of miles to bring awareness to mental health.

Kevin Hubsmith is the picture-perfect image of health and happiness.

From the outside, this male model has it all. The glitz and the glamour.

But looks can be deceiving.

“It started in high school. I actually had an incident with self-harm, which was my first real big obstacle with mental health,” Hubsmith said. “Got some treatment and then went off to college and had a little bit of a manic episode in college actually.”

That’s when Hubsmith decided to spend 76 days in the wilderness.
