Montclair Women’s Club Kicks Off Zoom Series With Art Program

Montclair artist Carol J. Cohn will lead a dynamic, collaborative art program on Oct. 29 as the inaugural offering of a new 2020-21 virtual season for the Montclair Women’s Club, which is welcoming its community back for the first time since February.

The club is reaching out to its community with “Among Friends,” a new monthly series of Zoom-based programs that will spotlight members who will share their personal passions, interests, and experiences.

In the first of the series, Cohn will present a virtual, participatory session in which audience members will be able to reflect upon and share experiences of the COVID-19 pandemic — an opportunity to capture its personal impact while invoking the power of art to heal individual and collective trauma. Tony and Tina will get hitched on Zoom with their family and guests safe and socially distanced. Tony n’ Tina’s Wedding, the long-running Las Vegas interactive dinner show on the Strip, will perform a virtual benefit performance on Oct. 8 on Zoom.

Proceeds from the sales of tickets will help benefit The Composers Showcase TCS Entertainment Community Relief Fund. The fund was set up to help support members of the local entertainment community who have been adversely affected financially by COVID.

Fashion brands design ‘waist-up’ clothing for Zoom

Fashion labels are designing outfits for video calls during the coronavirus pandemic.

A “waist-up” focus has been noticed at both Milan and London Fashion Weeks, with detailed necklines and relaxed trousers.

Prada placed its logo near the collars of its tops, and featured large coats pulled around shoulders like a blanket.

It said it was not inspired by Zoom, but by the “contemporary human relationship with technology”.

“Fashion is about reacting to reality,” said Miuccia Prada, head designer of Prada, at its virtual Milan fashion show. “During lockdown, I realised how important technology is and how it is impactful for us, and in some ways, an extension of ourselves.”

“The tunic tops and roll necks, with the brand’s famous triangle logo blown up and placed directly below the neckline, will certainly catch the eye of your fellow Zoomers,” Jane McFarland, fashion director at The Sunday Times, said of the collection.
